Age 2.5 Years
At 2.5 years old, we have one perfect class to get your little one started — a fun, gentle introduction to movement and music.
Baby Ballet is a lovely first dance experience, introducing toddlers to rhythm, movement and simple sequences in a warm, welcoming environment. No experience needed — just bring your little one!
Age 3 Years
At 3 years old, your child can begin their dance journey with ballet and musical theatre — building coordination, confidence and a love of performing.
Age 4 Years
At 4 years old, more classes open up — including mini jazz, musical theatre and commercial, alongside ballet.
Age 5 Years
At 5 years old, children can begin graded classes including Pre-Primary Ballet and Tap (ISTD), and can also be considered for their first exam.
ISTD Exams: Pre-Primary is the first graded exam level, available from age 5. Exams are optional and not compulsory.
✦ Acrobatics must be taken alongside at least one other dance class.
Age 6 Years
At 6 years old, children can progress to Primary level ballet and tap, and begin to explore more styles including Hip Hop and Contemporary (alongside Ballet).
✦ Acrobatics must be taken alongside at least one other dance class.
✦✦ Contemporary is a technical class and can only be taken alongside Ballet.
Age 7 Years
At 7 years old, children can begin working towards Grade 1 ballet and tap, and explore a wider range of styles including Hip Hop and Junior Contemporary.
✦ Acrobatics must be taken alongside at least one other dance class.
✦✦ Contemporary is a technical class and can only be taken alongside Ballet.
✦✦✦ Competitive Freestyle classes can be trialled but are only available to those wanting to join the competition squad. Please contact us for more information.
Age 8 Years
At 8 years old, children can progress to Grade 2 and beyond in ballet and tap, and take on more advanced classes across all styles.
✦ Acrobatics must be taken alongside at least one other dance class.
✦✦ Contemporary is a technical class and can only be taken alongside Ballet.
✦✦✦ Competitive Freestyle classes can be trialled but are only available to those wanting to join the competition squad. Please contact us for more information.
Age 9+ Years
From 9 years and above, the full range of classes is available — including senior and advanced levels, turns & technique, and the elite competition squad.

✦✦ Contemporary is a technical class and can only be taken alongside Ballet.
✦✦✦ Competitive Freestyle classes can be trialled but are only available to those wanting to join the competition squad. Please contact us for more information.

Please Note — Assessment Required
For some classes, children will need to be assessed before joining to ensure they are placed in the most suitable class for their age, ability and experience. This is to make sure every child gets the very best out of their training and feels confident and comfortable from day one. Please get in touch and we will be happy to advise.
Exclusive Registration
In line with standard industry practice, we do not cross over with other dance schools. Students registered at another dance school are unable to attend classes at JJ's Studios at the same time.
