The heart and soul behind everything we do
"Everywhere I go, every smile I see,
I know you are there smiling back at me.
Dancing in moonlight I know you are free,
I can see your star shining down on me."
"After travelling the world, JJ returned to his roots where his career began — to give back his knowledge of the professional industry and his skills as a dancer and choreographer to the young stars of today."
The Beginning
His Journey
JJ Agar-Leigh
JJ started his dance career in Rhyl, North Wales, performing in many competitions, productions and pantomimes from an early age. His extraordinary talent was evident from the very beginning — at just 8 years old he was already performing professionally alongside Danny La Rue and Linda Nolan.
He won many British and European Championship competitions in Freestyle Dance, and at the age of 11, JJ competed and won the prestigious National Eisteddfod — one of the most celebrated cultural competitions in Wales.
Following his victory, JJ was invited to train at The Hammond School in Chester. At 16, he auditioned and was awarded a full scholarship to attend Performers College in London, where he graduated with a National Diploma in Musical Theatre and Dance, and obtained his ISTD and RAD teaching qualifications.
What followed was a glittering professional career that took him from the stages of London's West End to world cruises, European tours, television studios and international stadiums — performing alongside some of the biggest names in entertainment.

Welcome to JJ's Studios
The Home of Body Rock
Dance Academy
A vibrant dance studio established in 2012, founded by the talented siblings JJ, Tara and Natasha — all trained professionally in London at Performing Arts colleges. They grew up in Rhyl, a stone's throw away from the studios, and fell in love with teaching. The school has gone from strength to strength and we are so lucky to have the most supportive parents and students.
Our studio is dedicated to providing a diverse array of dance classes — ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, freestyle, hip hop, commercial, technique, musical theatre, drama and singing. We aim to nurture creativity, technique and artistry in a supportive and inspiring environment, helping dancers of all levels achieve their full potential.
We run an annual production at the Rhyl Pavilion Theatre every April and our students are invited to other professional opportunities throughout the year and Panto at Christmas. Our students have the option to take ISTD Ballet and Tap exams, and we travel up and down the country — and even to Spain — to compete in prestigious competitions with our competition team.
From Natasha & Tara
Sadly we lost our beloved JJ in December 2019. We have made it our mission to achieve not only our own but his goals too. We opened up our beautiful studios in his memory and name — and it couldn't be more fitting.
Our big brother, our best friend and role model — James Joseph Agar-Leigh.
We miss him terribly and will forever dedicate our lives to making sure his legacy lives on through his students — his "kids" as he would call them. The dance world lost an incredible talent, an amazing teacher and the best possible role model any child could ever have.
We love and miss you dearly and look forward to when we see you again for one of your big hugs accompanied with a "Love ya sis" — until then we will do our best to instil your values and love of dance to the young students we have the privilege and pleasure of teaching.
